People can set up local blogs for their communities, then have the community check in on the blog for news happening around their neighborhood or area of interest. Then after the blog is established perhaps the owners of these blogs can charge advertising space to reputable local stores a fair fee which can then pay for journalism efforts (like travel, equipment, hotel stays, etc). Just a thought.
